AbyssDivers 5 [Dirge of the Depths Main Arc] (Jaern Oceans)

Francis, Rosse, and Ray ended their impromptu exploration of the church’s basement, narrowly preventing a swarm of abysslings from entering the church proper. After regrouping inside the cathedral, the party left to explore the ocean floor proper. Kali was able to spot the sinking wreckage of Capt. John Turtlekiller’s ship, from which the party was able to retrieve and repair Francis’s modified Pthoran military LUV. Along the way, the party witnesses the abyssal kraken moving a mountain, transporting large portions of a damaged Abyssling hive elsewhere. Returning to the sunken church, the party rests.

The next “morning”, massive pillars of blackened coral now loom outside the barrier. The severed heads of Sharkiller’s crew littering the pillars. Unnerved but undaunted, a strike force consisting of Francis, Malthus, Okrana, Kali, and Rosse set off to investigate rumors of a missing doctor, who claimed to have discovered a “cure” to the Abyssling curse. Though they successfully locate his grave, his body rises, having been granted new life and purpose, calling nearby Abyssling Soldiers to the scene. Fending off the ambush, the party is able to retrieve 5 salt shots.

Witnessing Abyssling Terrors retrieve the corpse heads one-by-one, Khemoloch and Ray formulate a plan to create a tracker and discover the true Abyssling hive. Once the other party returns, they formulate a plan with the expeditionary members to rescue Isaac, with the expeditionary members creating a diversion, so the party can safely infiltrate the hive. In preparation, Khemoloch and Okrana synthesize gasoline for the journey, storing it inside the LUV’s trailer.
